Senior Staff
The two founders of Sounds of Hope, Ltd., Jeanne Junge (artistic director) and Tom Surprenant (program director), have led every summer project since 1991. Their goal each year is to make the new summer project better than the previous year’s. Combined, they have more than forty years of experience in the arts and experiential education.
The Junior Team
One of the very unique aspects of Sounds of Hope, Ltd. is our staff Junior Team. All (and we mean, literally all!) of our Junior Team members have been through the project as participants. They're as international as the project itself, coming from Turkey, Israel, Italy, Guatemala, Madagascar, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, China, the United States, and other countries. The Junior Team staff members are trained leaders and experienced performers.
Artistic Staff
Songs of Hope™ hires some of the best players of world music in the Twin Cities metro area – versatile artists who bring not only years of musical and performance experience but also something very important to us: that is, they bring a love of working with kids and an ability to draw out kids’ best. Our core artistic staff includes Jeanne Junge (artistic director), Cheryl Kramer (keyboards and piano), Angel Diaz (percussion), and David Burk (guitar, ud, saz, mandolin). Most members of our artistic staff have been with us for 10 to 20 years.
